Silent step, small stature, expressive hands of energy, big eyes that transmit a deep look, smiling with joy ... The simplicity of Edwin Maria John Contrast with his admirable experience and life option. When he speaks, he is passionate and strongly inspires everyone who wants to listen to him. He knows that together, and with children, we can transform the world.

Edwin Maria John, renowned international activist for children's rights and leader of the United Nations for his work in the organization of more than 100 thousand "neighborhood parliaments" in India, as well as an expert in Sociocracy, is in our country to tell how it has managed to include and motivate civil society to generate profound changes in the inclusion of girls and boys in public policies and strengthen citizen participation, through dialogue methodologies where decision making is by common consent.

During his visit to our country, organized by Fundación Colunga and América Solidaria, the Indian leader - who is part of Neighborhood Community Network (NCN) and has special consultative status with UN ECOSOC - He has participated in various activities, including the premiere of the documentary "The Price of Free", by his compatriot and 2014 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Kailash Satyarthi, as well as leading various meetings, such as those he had with the mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue and the presidents of the Colunga foundations, Esperanza Cueto, and América Solidaria, Benito Baranda, among others.

He also spoke before the main organizations that work with children (Sename, María Ayuda, Corporación Opción and Observatorio de la Niñez y Adolescencia, among others), achieving concrete agreements such as creating a table for children's participation, and conducting a pilot with children's parliaments. Also, he has had meetings with children from La Granja, La Pintana and Peñalolén, including them in this participatory methodology. It also met with the Ombudsman for Children and the Judiciary, generating interest so that there is greater participation of children in public policies.

For the next few days, Maria John is expected to continue participating in workshops, experienced parliamentarization processes, in Sociocracy training courses, in various talks in Santiago and Antofagasta, sharing her experience.

Maria John will participate in the International Festival of Social Innovation fiiS, which will take place between December 4 and 7, with the D-Mind talk: "Sociocracy: Sustainable Organizations of the Future", on the 5th of that month, where Colunga will host this and other talks.
