"I think that in Colunga everyone is very convinced of achieving a major change in the field in which they work"

How did you get to civil society?

A couple of friends invited me to work on a project that at that moment was in its infancy. The invitation involved thinking about what we wanted to do and where we wanted to impact. They were already working on a project related to childhood, but the challenge - and the reason for the invitation - was to change the focus and put together a project that would truly impact the lives of the children and adolescents who live in the residences of the Sename network.

What is the organization currently working on?

In Plant Future We are currently working on the consolidation of our learning methodology. Although we just expanded to one more residence (now there are 4) and the number of volunteer tutors almost doubled (now there are 60), what we are looking for is that our way of working does not leave anything to chance and so we can have the best results : training of the volunteers who attend the sessions, constant improvement of the planning of the sessions, evaluation of what is happening and why it happens in the residences, etc.

What is your biggest challenge?

The challenge today is for our program to have the best impact on the lives of children and adolescents, and for us to know how to collect those results for our constant improvement. As we have been working for a short time, we are making the best effort so that the wheel can be turned without much impulse and cost: standardize processes, induction to work groups and volunteers, and prepare the whole environment so that the work of the tutors in the sessions of Saturday are as fruitful as possible.

How has your experience been at ColungaHUB?

Very good. We have met with a group of very valuable people, both humanly and professionally, and who have no limits. I think that in Colunga everyone is very convinced of achieving a major change in the field in which they work. What I highlight is that there is an openness to collaborate, to teach, to give advice. It is very easy to solve doubts or solve problems when you are in Colunga and for us, who just left, is very valuable and greatly appreciated.
