State of Emergency in Chile: How to protect children

Organizations that work for the protection of the rights of children and adolescents in our country have disclosed a series of measures and safeguards to consider during these days when we are going through a State of Emergency.

On the one hand, UNICEF He has asked the State institutions to ensure the physical and psychological integrity of children, as well as a call to police, military, parents, mothers and caregivers to avoid exposing them to violent situations that violate their rights, especially in the demonstrations.

Likewise, recommends adults stay calm and pay attention to children's emotional needs, transmitting tranquility and providing dialogue spaces: “It is important that they help children and adolescents to express their emotions and give them containment. It is recommended to avoid being exposed to the media and to promote that the source of information be parents or caregivers"

On the other hand, the Ombudsman's Office has provided a help phone and a online complaint form in case of violation of rights, need for information, help or danger.
