"In Colunga there is a sense of genuine and fluid collaboration"

We talked with Valentina Valech, who told us how she came to the executive management of Ashoka Chile, in addition to his personal experience in the world of civil society and what they want as an organization with respect to young people.

How did you get to civil society?

I arrived because I had been looking for a job for a while, with purpose, that filled my soul and that provided challenges. I arrived at Ashoka because my husband has always been close to the organization. I started to get involved as a volunteer and then the opportunity to lead the office in Chile was opened. My experience in civil society has been a family experience. It gives me the speed, the freedom and the space to be able to build initiatives that positively impact our communities.

What is the organization currently working on?

In building a movement of young change agents that shows all Chileans that there are different ways to contribute, create value, deal with changes and make a more just world. We want to tell and viralize their stories, and that their testimonies inspire and transform other young people. We are sure that we are in a world where we are all agents of change.

What is your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge, and one that we all probably face in civil society organizations, is to make all our projects and dreams financially sustainable.  

How has your experience been at ColungaHUB?

In Colunga there is a genuine and fluid sense of collaboration. So far it has been a pleasure to be here. The community that is there inside accompanies and supports. I feel very grateful and happy in Colunga.
