"ColungaHUB should be the expression of the initiatives that will change our country in the next 20 years."

The net Movidos x Chile 2017 was born to coordinate aid organizations, following the forest fires that hit southern Chile. Its purpose is to strengthen the articulation system of organizations before facing such disasters. Pablo Flores, Executive Director, tells us about the new challenges they must face as a group.

How did you get to civil society?

It was the year 2006, during the Penguin Revolution, when I was still in school. Then, at the University, I participated in the Student Federation and other volunteers. In 2015 I joined TECHO Chile, an experience in which I had the opportunity to connect with the most excluded communities in the country and make myself available to them. Today I enter Movidos x Chile, with the task of coordinating collaborative organizations from different fields, to face emergencies and socio-natural disasters. It is a very challenging task for the current times and very important for the communities of the country that are directly affected.

What is the organization currently working on?

The network is posing new challenges in terms of emergency preparedness, articulating and strengthening capacities in organizations, improving communications in crisis contexts and contributing to better humanitarian aid.

What is your biggest challenge?

Achieve to be an effective coordination bridge for the collaborative network in emergency situations. In this way, we want to prevent damage to those who genuinely help, without having clear information, and also contribute to lessen the consequences of those who suffer from these catastrophes.

How has your experience been at ColungaHUB?

It has been a very good experience. You feel the dynamism and the interactions between the different organizations. It is a space that has a clear work structure and there is good vibes among all.

What results do you hope to achieve with ColungaHUB?

I believe that ColungaHUB should be the expression of the initiatives that will change our country in the next 20 years. I would like us to interpret and / or act on the new problems of our society. This implies always removing the sense of what we do and generating discomfort, but I think we have enough capacity to do so and propose new ways to build solutions.
